2017 Samsung Galaxy A series are now water resistant with IP68 rating. – Hungry Geeks

Samsung is on a roll now, the just announced the new Galaxy A 2017 series mainly the A3, A5 and A7 to have IP68 water and dust resistance similar to the Galaxy S7. Aside from water resistance, all units will have fast charging and USB-Type C ports.

By inheriting IP68 rating it can withstand water resistance into 5 feet of water up to 30 minutes and everyday dust exposure. Similarly the shape of the new Galaxy A 2017 series gets rid of the circular rectangle shape and made it similar to the S7 or the Galaxyt J7 Prime.

With this progress, we think Samsung will radically overhaul the new Galaxy S8 as the design is no longer unique as compared to the A, C, J series.

Galaxy A3 2017

Being the most affordable of the three, it will sport a 4.7″ HD 1280x720p display, Octa-core SoC at 1.6Ghz (Not specified yet), 2GB of RAM, 16GB storage and 2,350mAh battery. Camera will sport an 13mp shooter and 8mp selfie camera at the front.

HG Estimated price :  12,990

Galaxy A5 2017

The Galaxy A5 2017 will most likely combat the mid-range market with better specs of a 5.2″ Full HD 1920×1080 display, 3GB of RAM, 32GB storage, Octa-Core 1.9Ghz (Not specified) and a 3000mAh battery. Camera will be 16MP at the rear and 8mp at the front.

HG Estimated price :  17,990

Galaxy A7 2017

The Galaxy A7 2017 will be similar to the A5 with more battery (3600mAh) and bigger screen size at 5.7″. As you can see 5.5″ is not present as it might be an indication that Samsung is still gearing their best asset which is the Galaxy S8 for the best selling 5.5″ screen size.

HG Estimated price :  20,990

All displays were not specified but it will most likely sport Samsung’s SuperAMOLED display which we are a fan of because of the brightness and vivid colors. Colors for the phone will be four which are Black Sky, Gold Sand, Blue Mist and Peach Cloud.

We are glad that Samsung is expanding the water resistance lineup to the A series which means better competition in the mid-range market. Along with the standardization of USB-Type C ports, we think this is a great start for Samsung to regain and kickback 2017.
