Apple launches ridiculously thin Macbook at 13.1mm – Hungry Geeks
Apple just launched the new MacBook inspired from the iPhone at iPad in terms of portability. At only 2 pounds (970g), its only 13.1mm vs 17.3mm thin. Interesting is that the new Macbook is showcased in Gold color and has very narrow bezels even on the keyboard.
It has a full size keyboard with the new butterfly keyboard that save space by making it 4x thinner and more stable to avoid wobbling when keys are pressed on the side. The 12.1 inch screen has a resolution of 2,304 x 1440 display with a larger aperture for better light and thinner as well. The trackpad is also re-invented with what Apple calls Force trackpad. This enables a force click where users can click anywhere in the trackpad and have the same feel anywhere, plus the feedback can be customized to your feel.
Connectivity for charging, data and video is now done via the new USB-C connectivity, this will be the new standard connection of the future with 360 input and 1/3 smaller the size. The uni-body structure is also restructured to attach parts directly to the cover. The logic board is also 67% smaller thanks by removing the fan and heatsink. Powered with an Intel Core M processor that only runs on 5 watts for power conserving. The battery is also made of terraced battery, which is 50% more battery capacity as compared to plain flat batteries by occupying the tapered space.
The new Macbook will be available by April 10 in initial countries and will expand in the incoming weeks. Available in base model for $1299 (Php58,455) and $1599 (Php71,955) when converted $1 to Php45. The new Macbook will be available in three colors, mainly Silver, Gray and Gold.
