What we expect to see during Apple's iPhone 7 event – Hungry Geeks
After all the iPhone announcements that we saw during these years, we already know that we should not expect much for the next iPhone. They wont be shocking but all in all a great solid phone. Here are some things that we should expect during Apple’s September 7 iPhone event:
Five color options. Of course we’ll get to see the current gold, rose gold and silver models but we’ll also get a replacement for the space gray that will be dubbed as “dark black” and a new “piano black” with a glossy finish. Reports say that supply may be limited on the piano black iPhone so expect to see it in higher storage models first.
Storage options will change. According to reports, the base model will jump to 32GB and will be accompanied with 128GB and 256GB variants.
More RAM for the iPhone 7 Plus. The larger iPhone will have 3GB of RAM which is said to help the performance of its dual-lens camera system. The smaller iPhone 7 will stay with 2GB.
The dual-lens camera will sport a wide-angle camera and a telephoto camera both having 12-megapixel sensors. The combination is rumored to give off an optical zoom-like feature. It’s also like a Lytro-style refocusing after the photo has been taken.
Waterproof(-ish). The previous iPhone 6S was already waterproof on its own but Apple didn’t advertise it. We could expect the iPhone 7 to feature IPX7 water resistance just like the Apple Watch but we also won’t see some heavy advertising for it.
No headphone jack. Yup, Apple is really doing it. Report says that Apple will put EarPod headphones with a Lightning connector in the box alongside a Lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter. There’s also rumors that it will come with a bluetooth EarPods that will be dubbed as AirPods but that will most likely come next year.
Faster A10 processor. This is a no brainer. But Apple’s new A10 chip could be clocked at around 2.4 or 2.5GHz which is a major jump from the previous 1.85GHz and it will be manufactured by TSMC.
More color in the screen. The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will likely to have the same color gamut from the 9.7-inch iPad Pro. This is great because it will work perfectly with the photos taken with the new dual-lenses.
4 LED Flash. It’s still not sure whether the iPhone 7 Plus will only have this feature, but reports say that it will have 4 LEDs: two warm and two cool.
Stereo speakers. With the headphone jack gone, we’ll most likely have two speakers on the device, so it is logical for the new iPhone to have stereo speakers.
And that’s about it. We are reminding you that these features may or may not be true as this is not confirmed by Apple. The good news here is that we’ll get to confirm it all together this Wednesday.
