A Christmas Carol – learn again what is Christmas – Hungry Geeks

The timeless story of “A Christmas Carol” is a part of our childhood, the memories of an old man who forgot compassion, love and care on Christmas day is the 1st thing you’ll remember. Named as Ebenezer Scrooge, this man lost direction in life by being grumpy and careless to others other than earning money even on Christmas day.

Announced last October for its biggest version in the Philippines, Globe Live and 9 Works Theatrical set the press preview of the “A Christmas Carol”. Fast forward to December, the show is now on-going at the Globe Iconic Store at the center of Bonifacio Global City.

Taking a huge feat of staging a Christmas-themed show in an open-air venue, the 3 level stage and multiple stage areas give dynamic experience to everyone wherever you are seated.

We are impressed with the multiple roles played by each cast, portraying the life of Scrooge from past, present and future along with side roles of being ghosts and bystanders. The costumes portray great craft, convincing of the old London style while still able to maintain some comfort for Manila’s very humid weather.

We won’t spoil you as much as possible, but its expected in the story the scrooge will be thought a lesson by bringing him into the past, present and future. Here you will see scrooge facing guilt, regrets or remorse for the attitude he portrayed in his years.

Being given a chance to change, you’ll be greeted to the most jolly and Christmas rich emotion which is Ebenezer Scrooge. This is an amazing feat of acting which is consistent all through out, bringing low emotions to high instantly. You will even encounter stage interaction through small gifts of scrooge throwing candies and small gifts to everyone watching.

With a cast of more than 30, entrances for the stage comes in different sections, they also have multiple secret doors for surprise entrances for some scenes. Finally, at the end of the bad past is a new Ebenezer Scrooge that is livelier ending the night through a very enchanting and teary moment of remembering what Christmas suppose to feel.

This moment is even amplified with Choirs at the background along with the ochestra bringing the best ensemble of Christmas songs by the world-famous musical theatre and film composer and pianist Alan Menken.

Plus, snow is brought to life through an artificial bubble machine. It may not be the real thing, but it brings joy especially to everyone at any age. Once, you’re at the scene combined with the songs, cast, costume and stage…it’s like a magical feeling we believe you, your family or friends should experience.

A Christmas Carol is now showing until December 25, 2016. You can get tickets via Ticketworld or avail special promos from Globe’s Huawei Postpaid plans or Mastercard in BGC.
