Acer Liquid Zest Review – Hungry Geeks

With all the high-end phones coming out recently like the Apple iPhone SE, Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5, we tend to forget that there are also smartphones catered for those who don’t want luxurious and costly devices — let’s take a look at this Acer Liquid Zest.

Body and Design

The design is rather simple and straightforward — it’s slim and compact. It’s very simple and has understandable bezels considering it’s not one of those high-end smartphones. The Acer Liquid Zest has a 5.0-inch 720 x 1280 screen. It’s clear but not that sharp, and it comes at 297 pixels per inch which is a reasonable number.

The good thing about the Liquid Zest is it has a feature called Zero Air Gap technology. Simply put, it removes the air in between the touch panel and the LCD screen to improve outdoor viewing and reduce reflections so you can freely use the smartphone even if the sun is shining down on your screen.

It also has a Acer’s Blue Light Shield which is an application that lets you adjust the amout of blue color used by the screen. Much like Apple’s new Night Shift feature, it is said that it helps your body to comfortably rest at night so you can sleep easily. A very nice feature to add.

As for the user interface, it already has the latest Android Marshmallow 6.0. It has Acer’s preinstalled skin with some modifications but still has that stock android feel minus the bloatware that comes with it.

Camera

Given that it is a budget phone, don’t expect a revolutionary camera that are found on higher-end ones. The Acer Liquid Zest sports an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel camera for selfies. It has the usual LED flash and exposure control. The good thing here is that both cameras have wide angle lens so you can fit more elements in your photos. Again, there’s nothing really special in this one but rest assured that it gets the job done and it has the potential to create beautiful shot that would fit for your Instagram feed.

Performance

Inside the Acer Liquid Zest is a 1.0GHz quad-core processor and a RAM of 2GB. It is expected for the handset’s price and it won’t impress you with the overall performance so don’t expect too much. The smartphone breezes through your usual needs like basic we browsing and app usage. If want something more than that then you might want to look at higher-end smartphones as this device is meant for normal phone use.

What I really like about this phone is the feature called DTS HD Premium Sound which really gives you an enhanced sound field and clearer vocals when playing music. It is like other smartphone’s speaker that just bumps up the volume, this really enhances the music. A really promising feature.

As for the battery, we haven’t got confirmation on the exact number mAH on this but we read online that its around 2000. But for the phone with these specs, we actually didn’t need to charge it all throughout the day so rest assured that you can use the phone the whole day without the need of plugging it on a power source.

Verdict

The Acer Liquid Zest is a really good phone for the price. I really like how cheap it is while sporting a good simple and compact look. It has an above-average screen because of its features and a very good audio speakers. From what I have seen so far it is very reasonable for the money.

The Acer Liquid Zest is priced at Php 5,999 and it comes with a dark blue and white color variant.
