We’ve been working with PS5 to bring along a group of dynamic gamers and esports fans to compete at both local and international levels ever since the launch of PlayStation Tournaments. In the heart of celebrating our group, we’re excited to announce PlayStation Tournaments: XP, a new life studio function that invites the best dynamic gamers globally on PS5 for a special in-person team-based competition.

On January 18, 2025, the first-ever PlayStation Tournaments: XP competitors will be held live in London. Teams Triangle, Circle, Cross, and Square will compete for points in the competition and win special rewards as well as rewards from people from around the world and the PS5 competitive gaming area.
Fans at home will be able to enjoy the event live supply, see all the action, and get rewards by participating in online qualifiers through PlayStation Tournaments on PS5. People will also have a chance to compete to win prizes during the online qualifiers via PlayStation Tournaments on PS5.
To fight for a chance to engage in London, perform in any PlayStation Tournaments: XP Open Qualifier on PS5. Tekken 8 and EA Sporting FC 25 may begin immediately in available finals. On December 6, Fortnite’s Open Qualifiers did begin, and Astro Bot’s did begin on December 13, 2024. See this page for complete information about the qualifying periods and rules.
Players who complete an Open Qualifier may be invited to a local net Closed Final. After winning a Closed Final, the person will then earn a place to engage in the life PlayStation Tournaments: XP function and a solution to London, including airlines and shelter.
When qualifying players arrive in London, they’ll be seeded into one of the four teams ( Triangle, Circle, Cross, and Square ) and compete across several exciting live broadcast matches to earn points ( called “XP” ) for their team.
A Team Captain and Specialists, which are a group of neighborhood favorites who specialize in one of the four featured titles, will be present on each team. These Team Captains and Specialists will represent, cheer on, and coach their team through the tournament. Stay tuned for more information on the full roster of Team Captains and Specialists as we release them in the upcoming weeks!
After four rounds of competition and surprise mini-games, the top two teams will compete to become the first-ever Champions of PlayStation Tournaments: XP.
On January 18, PlayStation Tournaments: XP livestream will allow gamers to cheer on a team and watch the event. Fans can watch the action on the PlayStation Twitch and YouTube channels, which range from intense 1v1 fights to team captain interviews. To follow along each team’s progress, a Specialist from each team will be streaming their perspective, giving you an inside look at the action. Viewers will also be able to poll their teams and win prizes in chat, earning points for them.
PlayStation Tournaments: XP is a celebration of the players, competitors, and fans who make our competitive community a great group to be a part of. Whether you’re competing in London or cheering on from home, we can’t wait for you to experience this new in-person competition.
