Apple to Replace the Home Button on the iPhone 8 with Gestures | Hungry Geeks | Latest news

With all the leaks spreading like wild fire about the upcoming bezel-less and home button-less iPhone 8, it’s time to talk about the learning curve that we’ll have to face on the latest iPhone. And Apple may have the right gestures to do it.

Reports from Bloomberg shows that Apple will not have a virtual home button right below the screen and instead will feature a thin bar for you to initiate gestures with. Now for us, this is a better move because it looks cleaner than having a large circle for the home button.

As for the gestures, EverythingApplePro states in the video the below that you’ll have to swipe up from the bottom to unlock your phone. Then when you’re inside an app, swipe up fully to go back to the home screen or swipe a little bit to access the control center that’s now redesigned to also sport the multitasking apps above it. Very much like the latest iPad dock and gestures.

As for Siri, that we don’t know yet. Apple always has the “Hey Siri” function but it isn’t really that reliable. Maybe a swipe right on the thin bar? We’re not sure. But Apple will surely have the perfect answer, right?

It’s pretty much set in stone that the latest iPhone will be released during Apple’s Keynote event this September 12 so we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
