Asus Car Cam released Locally – Hungry Geeks

Dash cams are the mush-have car accessory now-a-days. With brands coming from popular imaging companies, digital storage brands, and action cameras – it’s about time an I.T. giant releases their own. Asus just announced their own in-car digital video recorder the RECO Classic Car Cam which only measures 95 x 65 x 34mm.

Asus RECO Classic Car Cam boasts of a Omnivision CMOS sensor and f/2.0, 140-degree wide-angle lens for full HD 1080p video recording at up to 30 frames per second and powered by an Ambarella chipset. It uses HDR technology for clearer recorded images in bright sunlight or dimly-lit environments which could easily recognize license plates and traffic signs.

Apart fron the sensor and the imaging technology, Asus RECO Clasic has a built in three-axis G sensor that triggers right after a collision – this saves a minute long video on a seperate file (30 sec prior/ 30 sec after impact) in a situation should space on the SD card runs out. It also has a manual emergency record button allowing the drive to save videos if he or she witnesses an accident. Overall, users can save up to 10 emergency record clips safely without worrying about recording over them.

Two additiona neat features of the Asus RECO Classic Car Cam is an onboard Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), and the Forward Collision Warning System (FCWS). The LDWS displays onscreen warnings and audio alerts if the vehicle steers outside road lane markings while the FCWS notifies the drive if he is following another car at distances less than 5 to 7 meters.

The Asus RECO Classic Car Cam is now available locally at 5,990Php with DS Gadgets, Dynaquest, and PC Works.
