ASUS shows off the 17.3-inch G-Sync ROG Chimera in IFA 2017 | Hungry Geeks | Latest news

While the thinner ROG Zephyrus has been gaining a lot of attention since its unveiling in Computex 2017, ASUS has pulled yet another laptop from their sleeves in the form of the ROG Chimera, which comes with a 17.3-inch G-SYNC 144Hz display, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080, and an Intel Core i7-7820HK.

Based from the photos, it seems that the shell of the ROG Chimera is eerily similar to that of the beastly ROG GX800. The Chimera also boasts the same processor, an Intel Core i7-7820HK clocked at a max of 3.9GHz, as the GX800. It’s a bit odd that Intel is sticking to Kaby Lake despite Coffee Lake already being in some notebooks announced in IFA 2017. The massive gaming notebook also comes with 64GB of DDR4 RAM at 2400MHz. The screen has also been upgraded from the GX800 (or downgraded depending on how you look at it) to a 17.3-inch 1080p 144Hz panel with a 7ms response time. As for the GPU, it comes with a single NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080.

The new Chimera also comes with a built-in Xbox wireless receiver that can connect to Microsoft’s 2.4GHz connection for their Xbox One controllers. This means that you no longer need to mess around with adapters if you want to use an Xbox One controller.

No news yet as to when the ROG Chimera will be available.
