Smart can now let you buy Apple apps with your load – Hungry Geeks

Smart just launched the world’s first Pay-with-Load service for the Apple and iTunes store. Without any credit card or online links, you can now conveniently pay with your load for more people can enjoy apps. You can start by registering by texting REG to 4949. This will give you a Mastercard number which you can use to pay in the Apple and iTunes store.

The Mastercard account is directly linked to your number, so think of it as a debit card in purchasing. Currently you can only use the service within the eco-system of the Philippine Apple & iTunes devices, so you can’t use the account to pay with other online stores.

A little disappointment / deal-breaker for some is the 15% “Convenience” charge which is on top of what you will purchase. Think of this like a 7-Eleven / Mini-Stop way in purchasing apps. This service is will start to roll out on Feb 16, definitely good news for iOS users without credit cards and would like to purchase apps.
