It was largely because crucial EU workers were being replaced, but also because the German Commission was waiting to determine what the then-new Trump presidency would do. &# 13; Eventually, it was reported that the EU was planning to greatly reduce its sanctions against Apple and Meta, because of concerns it Trump may impose punitive taxes. Then according to the Wall Street Journal, the EU has delayed charges still more. &# 13; ” We’re currently working on the implementation of final choices in the short term,” said a spokeswoman. &# 13; But, apparently, the European Commission told at least one of the two organizations that it would be imposing sanctions on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. The Commission was to provide cease-and-desist directions to both corporations on that day. &# 13; However, this year EU business director Maros Sefcovic, and individually Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met with Trump. Just ahead of the sessions, the EU is said to have decided to postpone announcing the charges, and a commission scheduled for Monday was likewise delayed. &# 13; It appears to have worked as Trump is then said to have told officials that he’d have “very small problem” agreeing a business deal with the EU. &# 13; The EU is also expected to push ahead with sanctions and the cease-and-desist commands intended to make Apple and Meta more comply with the Digital Markets Act. However, there is no evidence of when the EU may continue its plans.
