With the accessory market flooding the market, not to mention to include the class A imitations. It’s really hard for new brands to shine through to show their worthiness despite providing the “Balanced price vs performance / quality”. A new brand in the Philippines named Boompods aims to provide a complete solution of audio and accessories for your needs.
Recently in their launch event, we were given the BoomPods HeadPods which they promote to be their flagship bluetooth headphones for everyone. Let’s check out around the unit and see what the headpods has to offer.
The Headpods doesn’t really flaunt out with the size as compared to other headphones, the design is aimed more of a creative and fun oriented delivery for youth oriented martket. Our color is white, but there are other stand out colors such as neon green, neon orange, neon blue and black available. Made out of ceramic finish plastic, it feels right for headphones without any annoying rubber finish which eventually chips off in due time. The construction doesn’t bend even with given force, it feels durable and can handle average beating and falls.
The headphones can be folded for more portability, but unlike popular headphones it’s not foldable all the way inside. Once folded it can be tucked inside its bundled bag for easy carrying, plus its made of neoprene which takes care of the headphones against scratches.
Boompods takes form in its dome shape audio equipment, this is their technology to deliver better sound quality at the same time consistent look and branding for all their products. The buttons are standard navigation, though the “click” sound of the button when pressing is too stiff for us and could definitely annoy anyone.
Once opened, the Boompod’s bluetooth 4.0 connection is easy to pair up. Colors of the headphones are the following – Blue indicates connectivity, Red for charging while Violet is for pairing. Charging is also easy with its micro USB connectivity which is the most accessible cable right now for gadgets.
While audio may be subjective, we tried out the Boompods with out the iPhone 6 Plus and Globe Galaxy S6 Edge. We played 320kbps extreme quality music from Spotify ranging from house music, EDM, and accoustic, all resulted satisfactory music quality playback. Both phones was able to provide the highest quality audio to the headpods, as a result the instruments are full in range to be heard, bass is sufficient enough for satisfying bass feel and vocals are just right for pop music. Just don’t expect too much when playing acoustic music and bass intensive music, it seems that the bass and treble can’t mix together and eventually one will be dominant.
For the two 40mm speakers. headpods didn’t disappoint at all, it can handle loud music playing for background music while its in your neck. Though expect quality of music to degrade once you go to 90% of the volume, which is pretty natural for headphones at its price range. The headpods supports microphone for wireless calls, but the quality is just average and background noise was prominent when taking calls.
Comfort is something worth for the headpods, the leather-like material used as padding gives adequate comfort when using. While the top padding is also thick enough to avoid the band touching you head. Since the material used is quite durable, the headpods is a bit stiff to adjust in the head since its not that bendable. It may be something bad for some, but in our situation its more assuring for a snug fit usage. We were even able to jog using the headpods with no problem with the fit, it didn’t fell off in even with excessive movement like jogging.
The headpods passed and definitely belongs to the value for money in our review. With tons of Bluetooth headphones in the market, it just shined though with its practical and great quality. Plus with the color options of Neon, you’ll definitely standout with the headpods. The BoomPods Headpods is available now in Lazada Philippines and also PowerMac center stores for Php4,600.
