Caution: Robbers used Pokemon Go to lure trainers – Hungry Geeks
Pokemon Go is the hottest thing right now and this game will surely get you to go out and explore your city to search for Pokemons. But this can also get you in deep trouble.
In Missouri, the police reported that it has located four people suspected of armed robberies in multiple counties. Their modus operandi? they used Pokemon Go to lure in victims to their desired locations so they can rob them. As of writing, 11 teens aged between 16-18 have fallen in to their hands.
According to the police department, it’s believed that the robbers added a beacon to a Pokestop (a real-world location where in-game items can be collected) to attract players to a certain location.
Of course, the developers of the game didn’t think of this kind of situation, but they will certainly need to figure out to stop this. As of now, the game’s international release has been stalled because the players are overloading their systems and hopefully, the global launch will be accompanied by a smart way to keep players out of danger.
