ComClark tops January 2017 Netflix Philippine ISP Speed Index – Hungry Geeks

When it comes to Netflix, you have to hand it to them for having the latest metrics and data for their customers. Last year they launched fast.com which measures the actual speed you are getting when connected to the server of Netflix, so you can measure your quality of watching. \

In the latest statistics released January 2017, Netflix is best performing for ComClark at 2.55Mbps which is a DSL provider in Clark area. ComClark is also affiliated to Converge ICT which provides Fiber internet connection to Metro Manila and other parts of the nation.

2nd in place is PLDT at 2.34Mbps while Globe is 3rd at 2.21Mbps. The difference isn’t too much from each other while other players like SKYCable is at 2.16Mbps followed by Smart at 1.36Mbps.

Bayan a subsidiary of Globe ranks last at 1.3Mbps but we think the reason for this is that the maximum speed offering of BayanTel is only up to 2Mbps.

With all providers monitored since April 2016 (time when Netflix entered the Philippines), ComClark, Globe and Skycable are the winners in improving their speeds. While PLDT showed a stable growth early 2016 and maintained it since then.

You can see in the chart that PLDT’s wireless division Smart needs to catch up with the game, but they are now working on this with their upcoming major network improvements.

Hopefully, we can see this chart go up even more in the next 6 months. If so, then more Netflix users will be engaged to watch in higher definition.
