Galaxy TabPro S Quick Hands-On + Price – Hungry Geeks

Samsung Philippines just officially announced the Galaxy TabPro S windows 2-in-1 convertible. This is the 1st Windows-enabled device we’ve seen from Samsung since their exit of the PC market. What’s interesting to see to this comeback is all Samsung’s strength in the smartphone market is embedded into the new device.

So what features it have? Let’s check out our quick hands-on thanks to their display in Robinsons Place Manila during our Pokémon GO Caravan at Robinsons Malls.

Super Thin Body

The tablet is really thin at only 6.3mm (without the keyboard cover) and only 694g in weight. For a PC that is technically very light as most laptops weight in at 1.3kg even for an ultraportable device.

Super AMOLED Display

One great thing about Super AMOLED is its color and true-black vibrancy. Though yes we understand that its saturated, its still nice to appreciate the vibrant colors as compared to IPS panel devices.

The 12″ FHD+ display (2160 x 1440) is highly appreciative, the sizes of the user interface is still big enough to navigate via touch screen and crip in details. We toggled with the brightness and we find it similar to Galaxy Tabs before where it can definitely battle out against sunlight visibility.

Premium Keyboard Cover

We love the quality of the Keyboard cover with its fine texture at the outside and velvet texture on the inside. Keyboard buttons is square-shaped, we thought it would be hard to type but it was pleasantly good in tactile response and travel.

Compared to other brands, this one doesn’t require any charging to avoid any hassle. Touchpad is quite big for the size and has NFC connectivity for interaction. One thing you can also do is to unlock the tablet using your Samsung smartphone using the fingerprint sensor (if you have one).

Decent Processor and Storage

The TabPro S is powered by a dual core Intel Core m3-6Y30 clocking at 0.9GHz – 1.5GHz, 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal SSD storage.

Fast Charging

You’ll rarely see any windows device with fast charging, but Samsung says you can fully charge the TabPro S in an hour, plus its battery life is up to 10.5 hours. Combine both is an ideal situation for a mobile PC user.

The unit retails for Php55,990 which is a bit confusing, though our main complaint for the unit will be the lack of ports as it only have a micro USB port. The package comes with a multi-port adapter and keyboard cover so it will be less inconvenient, but the bluetooth stylus is sold separately (No declared price yet). For a Tablet PC, the price of the TabPro S is simillar to its competiton, the advantages of Samsung providing a Super AMOLED screen and ultra-thin body is definitely worth to consider.
