Google is cancelling Project Ara? – Hungry Geeks
According to sources like Reuters and Recode, Google has “suspended” their work on Project Ara, the wonderful attempt to create a phone interchangable modules for every component that will suit everyone’s need. Google is reportedly to license the technology to other partners, but will not release a phone directly from them. The move is said to be part of the movement to combine Google’s hardware development under the former Motorola president.
Project Ara seemed to be a dream for the current generation but it was surprising that Google made an effort to reintroduce their modular concept during their I/O conference earlier this year and even made an announcement that they will release the phone next year.
Project Ara was first introduced as a concept and was announced by Motorola three years ago. Then Google held onto it after selling Motorola to Lenovo.
