Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL now official, sports the best camera according to DxOMark | Hungry Geeks | Latest news

After months of anticipation, Google’s newest Pixel is here. With 2 variants in the form of a 5.0-inch Pixel 2 and a 6.0-inch Pixel 2 XL, these latest smartphones from the tech giant comes with all the bells and whistles you’d expect from a high-end handset.

The smaller Pixel 2 has a FullHD OLED display while its bigger sibling, the Pixel 2 XL comes with an 18:9 P-OLED display at a resolution of 2880 x 1440. Despite their size difference, both handsets comes with the same specs such as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

The party piece of both smartphones, however, is the single 12MP rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture with Laser AF, Dual Pixel phase detection, OIS, and EIS. Based on a report, the Google Pixel 2 scores a whopping total score 98 in DxOMark (99 in photos and 96 in video). To put that into perspective, Samsung’s Galaxy Note8 and iPhone 8 Plus were only able to reach a score of 94. That’s how beastly the Google Pixel 2’s camera is.

Google has also put in technology that HTC has developed since their acquisition. The Pixel 2 now has a squeezable frame much like the HTC 11, which they have integrated to their assistant. Despite its addition of new tech, they’ve also removed a crucial part of the smartphone experience; the 3.5mm jack. That’s right, the latest and greatest smartphone from Google doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio jack. But Google did have the decency to include a USB Type-C to 3.5mm adapter in the box.

Here are the full specs of the Google Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL:
