Google removing sexually explicit content on Blogger – Hungry Geeks

Reasons are not yet know, but Google is starting to put down sexually explicit content on its popular blogging platform. Users will no longer be allowed to share adult-related images and video on Blogger starting March 23.

All existing blogs that are featuring these contents will be made private on that date. Private blogs can only be viewed by their owners and users with whom they have been shared.

If you have a blog that contains sexual and adult related images and videos on Blogger, Google recommends that you either take it down, privatize your blog or remove your blog entirely and export all your posts thru Google Takeout.

Although, this doesn’t mean a total ban on nudity. Google stated that it “may make exceptions based on artistic, educational, documentary, or scientific considerations or where there are other substantial benefits to the public from not taking action on the content.”

A Google spokesperson said, “We’ve updated our policy to fall in line with our policies across Google’s hosted products (including products like YouTube or Google+). So starting March 23, 2015, you won’t be able to publicly share images and video that are sexually explicit or show graphic nudity on Blogger.”

“We will still allow nudity presented in artistic, educational, documentary, or scientific contexts, or where there are other substantial benefits to the public. However, we will ask that these types of blogs show an interstitial warning to remain public. ”

Back in 2013, the company previously blocked users from monetizing adult content on its blogging platform.
