Hong Kong Internet subsea cable damaged, expect intermittent Internet speeds until mid-October | Hungry Geeks | Latest news

In a report, Hong Kong Internet subsea cable codenamed SEA-ME-WE3, which routes traffic from Perth to Singapore and other countries in the South East Asia region, was damaged when the island nation was hit by two consecutive storms.

Repair teams have already been dispatched to fix the cable. Currently, their repair completion is a tentative date of October 13, 2017. Hopefully, the weather calms down enough to ease their repair.

Australian Internet service providers (ISP) such as iiNet have already issued a warning to their customers. In the Philippines, however, Globe and Smart have been relatively quiet about the issue. Converge ICT, on the other hand, have sent out text messages to their customers about the issue
