How to block political posts in Twitter – Hungry Geeks
Twitter is a social media platform that provides everyone the ability to share information. Twitter users tweets all kinds of information such as updates, news and even jokes. It’s a micro-blog that gives everyone convenience to post and follow the latest news. But nowadays, every tweets that I see are all about the government and the whole social network has become a large news website. Don’t you miss the old times wherein we’ll just see some random tweets from our friends and not just some rants about politics? Here’s a simple tweak to bring them back:
Install an extension called Tweet Filter – Simple filter for Twitter (here’s the link). The name of the plugin says it all — it adds a panel on your Twitter website from whence you may add any number of keywords to filter. If one of your keywords is found in the content of a tweet, that tweet will be “collapsed” into a single line of text.
I also liked this extension because you can also filter a twitter username, which is useful if you wish to collapse all the tweets or retweets of a given user without the need to unfollow them. Also, you’ll be able to see if the extension has “collapsed” a tweet if ever you want to see it.
Using Twitter to post about anything allows friends and loved ones to keep in touch. Many people tweet about major life events allowing those close to them to feel more connected on a daily basis. Don’t you miss that?
