HTC has launched their latest flagship device today in the form very similar to Apple’s iPhone and it’s dubbed as HTC One A9.
The device has the same unibody design of the iPhone with a “brushed hairline and blasted finish” and a 5-inch full HD Gorilla Glass 4 display. It’s also the first smartphone other than the Google Nexus to run on Android Marshmallow.
The design of the smartphone has clearly strayed out of HTC’s signature layout and clearly copies the design of the iPhone – which is refreshing to see and may entice current iPhone users to switch to Android without losing the look and feel of the device.
HTC stated that the One A9 has BoomSound and “a built-in DAC that delivers audio at 24-bit, 192KHz quality – better than CD quality – it provides a richness and depth like you’ve never before heard from your music collection. A powerful high-output headphone amplifier, with double the output of other handsets.”
With this kind of body, HTC sacrificed a bit of specs to accomodate it. Hardware specs include 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor, multi-directional fingerprint reader and the option 16 or 32GB of internal storage. They are also claiming 12 hours of HD video on one charge.
This time, the camera on this phone is not a strong point, there’s only a 13-megapixel camera on the rear and a forward-facing “UltraPixel” camera. There’s a pro mode too where you can shoot pictures in RAW format and you’ll also find HTC Zoe for the Live photo experience of the iPhone.
The HTC One A9 will be available in different metallic colors like Topaz Gold and Deep Garnet. It will be available to pre-order today and will occasionally arrive in early November. The model will cost around $399.99 and will be available in silver and gray to begin.
