Intel ZenFone 2 unable to play Pokemon Go due to incompatibility issues – Hungry Geeks

Pokemon Go just made everyone’s dream a reality of being a pokemon trainer. With just a smartphone, anyone can join the fun and test out the much-anticipated game. Unfortunately, we saw a common problem among ZenFone 2 users particularly Intel processor based phones trying to open the app but ended up always crashing.

Our friends in the ZenFone 2 community got flooded with complaints of unable to play the new game and we saw comments after comments of netizens blaming Intel. To our experiment we also tried the same with our ZenFone 2 Deluxe powered by Intel, as expected we encountered the same black out screen shown below.

While the ZenFone 2 may have been a great phone, this now shows a trade-off of using Intel processors with Intel being not the best choice for compatibility to Android apps. Applications like Snapchat filters, Waze maps, Facebook Video Chat were some of the few popular applications that had problems running on Intel powered devices.

Here is a screenshot of the compatibility chart of Pokemon Go, clearly stating that Intel powered smartphone are not compatible with the game.

Perhaps that’s why just recently they decided and announced to exit the smartphone business, most likely the prominent reason is the lack of support of manufacturers and software compatibility plagued the company.

Also, Pokemon Go earlier blocked access to Philippines and non-authorized countries due to the surge of new users. Hopefully Philippines will have a legitimate taste of the game soon as we expect it to be a hit among gamers.
