The most infamous browser of all time and everyone’s favorite FireFox/Chrome downloader, the Internet Explorer, now bids farewell after 20 years of service. According to The Verge, Microsoft has now confirmed that it will discard the Internet Explorer and will use a new a name for its upcoming browser successor, reportedly codenamed “Project Spartan”. The marketing chief of Microsoft, Chris Caposella revealed that their company is currently working on the new name and brand. They stated “We’re now researching what the new brand, or the new name, for our browser should be in Windows 10”. “We’ll continue to have Internet Explorer, but we’ll also have a new browser called Project Spartan that we will have to name the thing.”
Although the Internet Explorer will still exist in the current versions of Windows 10, the new Project Spartan will be named separately and will be the main browser that will be packed with Windows 10.
After all these years, Microsoft tried to save the Internet Explorer from its impending extinction with updates and fixes but failed.
So who will benefit this upcoming event?
For years now, web designers are still cursing the Internet Explorer for its lack of competence when it comes to web designing. Designers are having a hard time coding because of that one browser that interprets the code differently. With the removal of Internet Explorer from the designing standards, they will have more freedom, ease and convenience for web designing.
Together with web designers, web developers will also rejoice as Internet Explorer has also become an achilles heel because of its lack of compatibility in today’s code ethics. Internet explorer cannot work with the latest PHP and Javascript codes so they will always come up with difficult and complicated ways to create a web program.
But still, we don’t hate Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. It will always be our favorite Chrome and Firefox downloader when we have a freshly installed Windows Operating System. Goodbye IE, it’s been a good and long run.
