iPhone 6S and 6S Plus Announced | News and Reviews

During the event earlier, Apple announced their new flagship smartphone dubbed as the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. At first glance, you won’t notice any changes in the design and look – but wait till you see what’s inside. Here are the new features:

3D Touch

The main highlight of the phone is its new pressure sensitive display similar to the Apple Watch and they’re calling it 3D Touch. The 3D Touch senses how hard you’re pressing down on the screen and with that, it will pull up new menus, activate shortcuts and adds new interactions to future apps. The 3D Touch will also work with the built-in Taptic Engine so you’ll know whether you’re using the 3D Touch or not.

A new color: Rose Gold

Although Apple is maintaining the design and body of the iPhone 6 in their new phone, they are introducing a brand new color: rose gold. There were rumors roaming around about this beforehand, and it was true, the only thing that was not accurate was the color name (pink). The phone is also built in a new aluminum custom alloy and is covered with a new glass similar on the Apple Watch Sport. These changes are made to avoid the infamous Apple #BendGate.

A Faster Processor

Under the hood, the iPhone 6S is packed with a new 64-bit processor, the A9. The didn’t go deep about the new processor, but they boasted that it be 70 percent faster processing speed and 90 percent faster at graphics processing.

Enhanced Cameras

They upgraded the camera too – from 8-megapixel to a 12-megapixel boost. This is the first time that Apple has boosted their camera’s megapixel count as they stated that adding pixels would lead to noisier images. The camera is also now capable of recording 4K video with enhanced focusing speed and more vibrant colors. They didn’t work around that protruding lens at the back though.

The front camera has been enhanced too – boosting it to a 5-megapixel camera. Apple also made a brand new way of bringing a flash on a selfie too – the phone’s screen lights up really bright (about three times faster than a normal brightness) so you’ll have a true-tone flash during a selfie. It will customize the color of the environment to match the light that it will flash.

Live Photos

Apple also introduced a feature called “live photos”, wherein you’ll the device will capture a short video hand-in-hand with the photo that you’ll take. It’s a pretty cool idea, but this was not the first as HTC and other companies had this feature a couple of years ago. Be careful with your phone storage though as videos will take up a lot of space.

Costing

The iPhone 6S will be available at a minimum of $199 on a two-year contract with the 16GB variants. Apple also introduced a new payment plan wherein you’ll pay $32 a month and you’ll get the latest iPhone immediately every year.

Apple is introducing many features for their iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, but will those features be the ones to take them back to their throne? Let us know in the comments section below.
