In a decision that could lead to the dissolution of Google’s advertising company, a federal courtroom has determined that it is an illegal monopolist in online advertising.

U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema declared on Thursday that Google had unconstitutionally monopolized the marketing industry. Google’s position was that it possessed a dominance over a number of advertisements markets, which it used to its advantage.
Judge Brinkema found that Google’s dominance had an impact on the ad exchanges and the publishers ‘ markets. In consequence, Google had the ability to influence both how marketers purchased advertisements and how much publishers paid for that ad space.
