Nobuo Uematsu: Fantasian Neo Dimension’s artist discusses his grades for the music
Hello people! I’m Nobuo Uematsu, the artist of Fantasian Neo Dimension. When Hironobu Sakaguchi’s first conversation with me about Fantasian came up with the idea that this would be the last video game title for which I would only create the soundtrack. I wanted to give it all I had because this was going to be my last full music venture. I rearranged my office—cluttered with non-work-related items that were there for fun—into something I call the” Fantasian mode”, but that I could part myself artistically. In the end, I spent several months dedicating myself to designing, and I have no worries. Enjoy Fantasiasian Neo Dimension, my most successful full-length work on video game music over the course of my 30-plus year job!
Now, I’ll be introducing five of my favorite songs from Fantasian Neo Dimension’s music.
It’s often difficult to write the main topic for a sport. I try to approach it with the idea of “making a track that’s better than anyone I’ve ever made,” but progress is usually delayed when I take things too seriously. My imagination sometimes blossoms when I let go and know that” this is what I know how to perform best.” This was true of Fantasian’s Main Theme.
A stupid, outdated machine that’s certainly not the latest model – an imperfect being with divided statement, but is endearing precisely because of these features. When I was creating this record, I had these thoughts in mind. It has an odd, choppy experience to the melody, right?
This trail is one that I personally truly enjoy. Although this song has vocal vocalization that sounds like “lan lan,” it would be nice to have a live performance of a version with lyrics in the future.
Is music merely deemed “proper” when it is played with a beautiful tone and has a lovely melody played on top of gorgeous chords? If but, is it an “improper” piece of music when it has a graceless sound layered on top of unsettling feeling tones, performed hastily? Despite working in this area for so much, there are times when I have to wonder what exactly qualifies as “proper music.”
The amount of time Sakaguchi needs to write music songs is incredibly brief. In the past, whenever I sent a finished melody his way, his second draft would often be set by the following day or the following day. Although I wish I could suggest that this song followed suit, I believe his lyrics were written in the beginning and I wrote a sound to accompany them. Despite, I recall that I was able to complete this record quite quickly and smoothly, with no spots on the road. Speaking of which, Yuria Miyazono’s singers are thus beautiful…
When Fantasian Neo Dimension debuts on December 5th, 2024, you can find these songs for yourself in-game.
