Now, we’re happy to announce a new PS5 system software upgrade that introduces a number of new features, including: Welcome gateway: a new personal space with personalized widgets and backgrounds in your PS5 home screen. The Explore page, which was originally only accessible in the U.S., has been redesigned to make it accessible worldwide going immediately for some U.S. Party share players. The ability to communicate celebration voice chat links on messaging and social media apps does become available worldwide in the coming weeks. Also, thanks to help from our alpha participants, the following features that were tested in our latest PS5 alpha will be released worldwide, starting now: Personal 3D sound profiles for headphones and earbuds
Change the Remote Play settings for each person and decide who is permitted to use Remote Play to link to your PS5 console.
Adaptive charging for your devices (available for the slimmer PS5 type and PS5 Pro when it’s accessible )
Apart from responsive paying for your devices, all PS5 system upgrade features mentioned in this site post are available for all PS5 versions. Come get a deeper look at what’s included in this update:
Welcome hub ( phased release )
Welcome gateway, a dedicated area you can set up in your PS5 home screen with widgets, will be a new personal space that will let you see information clearly before you begin gaming. For U.S. people. The latest Explore page will be replaced by the Welcome Hub with more customization and user experience.

You can easily customize your Welcome gateway by selecting from a variety of widgets*, including unit store, power levels for equipment, website buddies, trophies, and many more. Use presets to quickly alter the layout, or arrange various widgets as you please. You can increase or shrink the size of your widgets to give more attention to the features that matter most to you, by expanding or shrinking them.
In addition, you can also change your Welcome hub’s background. Choose from a variety of designs, some of which have cool animated effects, or download a screenshot from your own Media Gallery for a truly personal touch.
Starting later today, Welcome Hub will be accessible to select users in the United States. Over the coming weeks, we will gradually expand support to other regions, starting with players in Japan, moving on to other nations in Europe, and finally releasing games worldwide.
Party Share ( phased release )
We’ll also add the ability for you to share party voice chat links on any messaging or social media app in the upcoming weeks. Even if you have n’t added them to your PlayStation Network friends list, you can invite them to join your party voice chat on any messaging app. To create a party link, open the voice chat card in the Control Center on PS5, select] Invite Players], then click]Share Party link ] to generate a scannable QR code. The party can be joined on their PS5 or PlayStation App with just one click of a button on their mobile device.
We’ll also release an update for the PlayStation App in the coming weeks that will allow you to generate a shareable party link from your mobile device in the same way.
Here’s a closer look at some of the PS5 beta features that are currently available worldwide, including personalized 3D audio profiles for headphones and earbuds, the ability to enable Remote Play for individual users, and adaptive charging for your controllers.
Customized 3D audio profiles for earbuds and headphones
One of the key ways that developers have improved the immersive quality of games is 3D audio in this generation. As individuals, we all hear sounds differently based on the size and shape of our head, ears, and ear canals. Your PS5 console will now have the ability to create a unique 3D audio profile just for you, which we’re pleased to introduce. With a pair of headphones or earbuds, you can go through a number of sound quality tests to determine the audio profile that best fits your hearing needs. For instance, your customized 3D audio profile might make the experience more immersive by allowing you to see the positions of characters and objects in a game world more clearly than before. **

To create a personalized 3D audio profile for your headphones or earbuds, go to]Settings ] &gt ,]Sound ] &gt ,]3D Audio ( Headphones ) ] on your PS5 console, and follow the steps displayed on the screen. You can still choose from 3D audio presets like you used to save your audio profile to your PS5 per user. This feature expands on the 3D audio enhancements we’ve added to the PS5 since its launch, including 3D audio support for compatible Dolby Atmos-enabled audio devices and support for built-in TV speakers. With Tempest 3D AudioTech’s PS5 games, these features give you more opportunities to explore the rich variety of soundscapes.
Using audio rig setups like the one shown in this video, which included PS Blog’s very own Sid Shuman, the PlayStation 5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech was tested and refined.
Make remote play available to individual users.
You can now change the Remote Play settings for each user and select who is permitted to use Remote Play to connect to your PS5 console. So, you can easily change who can access your PS5 console using Remote Play if your friends or family members come over and sign in with their PlayStation Network account. To adjust these settings, go to]Settings ] &gt ,]System ] &gt ,]Remote Play ] &gt ,]Enable Remote Play], and choose which user you want to enable access to your PS5 console through Remote Play.
For the slimmer PS5 model and PS5 Pro, adaptive charging is available for your controller.
Adaptive charging for the DualSense wireless controller, DualSense Edge wireless controller, PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers, and Access controller is now available for the slimmer PS5 model, when the console is in rest mode ( and will also be available for PS5 Pro when it launches ). Adaptive charging saves power by adjusting the battery life of the power supply to your controller. To use adaptive charging, go to]Settings ] &gt ,]System ] &gt ,]Power Saving ] &gt ,]Features Available in Rest Mode], and then select]Supply Power to USB Ports ] &gt ,]Adaptive]. After your PS5 enters rest mode, if a controller is n’t connected, the power supply to the USB port will stop after a certain period of time.
We will continue to improve your PS5 gaming and social experiences by taking feedback from the gaming and improvement community. Tell us what features you’re most looking forward to trying!
*Widget availability may vary by region. **Personalized 3D audio profiles are not supported during PS5 cloud game streaming. Remote Play does not support 3D audio. ***Adaptive charging works with the DualSense wireless controller, DualSense Edge wireless controller, PS VR2 Sense controllers, and Access controller when connected to the USB Type-C port on the slimmer PS5 console ( CFI-2000 model group – slim ) or PS5 Pro, using the USB Type-C cable included with your PS5. The PlayStation Portal remote player is unable to support adaptive charging.
