It’s been a moment, but the Savage Planet brand continues! We’re again for number two … similar persons, equal company, similar studio, but with a new name: Raccoon Logic. We were the original creators of Journey to the Savage Planet, which was initially released in 2020 and is now included in the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. We were former Typhoon Studios. Our brand-new sci-fi co-op experience Revenge of the Savage Planet, a funny success story about pioneers entertaining themselves to death, will debut on PS5 and PS4 in May 2025.
You’ll create and modify your own habitat, discover the alien landscape, record everything, catalog everything and finally figure out how to live. With more moons, our movie is a bigger and brighter world. With co-op from the start and a fresh third person perspective, you’ll run, leap, capture and collect your way through four radiant stars, crafting and upgrading your skills while uncovering hidden secrets within.
Now we’re revealing a second, underground world filled with some… not so normal creatures, while members of our team promote insight into the design philosophies behind its creation.
First, check out the video below!
In this new world, exploration is still a must! There are creatures to capture, lakes to swim, mountains to climb, rails to grind, and a secret den of fun to uncover. Our fifth world has an interior lair, striking a stark contrast to our open, organic worlds, with the intention of making it anything but predictable! Here’s some of our team to explain more:
” Filled with fresh challenges, insane verticality, and unique modified creatures, this final world answers all the game’s lingering questions”.
– Studio Head, Reid Schneider
Our digital juxtaposition serves as a narrative tool to reinforce the mystery of a place other than our planets ‘ natural sights. Through this ominous and perilous lair he built, we speak to Slappi’s character. Of course, we still have the odd and bizarre alien creatures that we’re known for.
– Lead Designer, Steve Masters
The sound design also went against the grain, putting our instrumentation in opposition to the digital production. We started out with a pinball machine meets a game show vibe, but as it developed, we became more and more focused on being inside a gigantic computer with wacky 8-bit sparkles.
– Audio Director, Cameron Jarvis
” We wanted to provide entertainment value, and robot toys are fascinating and enjoyable!” We looked back to a number of vintage arcade gaming sources for inspiration in order to create this sombre vibe. We used retro wave neon colors to evoke 90s entertainment and a hard surface modeling aesthetic.
– Art Director, Erick Bilodeau
In Revenge of the Savage Planet, there are many ways to play, including online co-op with cross-play and couch co-op ( local split screen ). We also have single-player mode if you aren’t up for sitting on the same couch with another real person.
” Our systematic design approach leads to extraordinary interactions and outcomes that you can explore and experiment with.” We’ve designed it into the world, the characters, your entire experience. Every time you play, you’ll discover something new and experience it differently”.
– Producer, NoemieL’Ecuyer
