The giant electronics brand Samsung finally breaks their silence about the most talked about exploding issue. After reports of the flagship phone’s batteries exploding and burning their users, the Korean smartphone manufacturer has decided to recall all of their Galaxy Note 7’s, both sold or unsold. The number of units to be recalled number at 2.5 million with 1 million already sold.

As per the official statement of Samsung, the manufacturer is aware of the issue and will implement a global recall and replacement program. This is to assure customers who availed the smartphone, are treated with utmost respect.
Samsung has also recognized 35 cases in which the Samsung Note 7 burst into flames, all of which were reported to have exploded due to manufacturer battery cell issue. With safety as the priority of the company, we commend Samsung for taking up for this crisis.
In the Philippines, local telecom Smart communications has already issued a statement acknowledging the issue and are in the process of assisting users. We have yet to hear from the other major telco, Globe Telecom.
Things are a bit shaky with Samsung’s recall as bitter rival, Apple, is set to launch their flagship phones this coming September 7. Even so, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 has been receiving rave reviews. You can read our take on it, here.

Samsung is committed to producing the highest quality products and we take every incident report from our valued customers very seriously. In response to recently reported cases of the new Galaxy Note7, we conducted a thorough investigation and found a battery cell issue.
“To date (as of September 1) there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally and we are currently conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market. However, because our customers’ safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have stopped sales
of the Galaxy Note7.
“For customers who already have Galaxy Note7 devices, we will voluntarily replace their current device with a new one over the coming weeks. We will provide further details on the process and timing of replacement as soon as possible.
“We acknowledge the inconvenience this may cause in the market but this is to ensure that Samsung continues to deliver the highest quality products to our customers. We are working closely with our partners to ensure the replacement experience is as convenient and efficient as possible.”
