Google’s latest iteration of Android, Android 8.0, also known as Oreo was been unveiled to the public back in August. This latest update has been slowly trickling in on some of the latest (and even old) smartphones in the market. Today, the Xperia XZ Premium finally gets the Oreo upgrade.
Aside from the usual performance enhancements that comes with an updated OS, the XC Premium will get a couple of new features. The most notable of which is 3D Creator that was only available in the XZ1. This allows the user to scan in four modes: face, head, food, or free-form to create 3D avatars or images in less than a minute.
Another notable addition to the XZ Premium’s armory is Predictive Capture, which allows the smartphone to detect smiles within the frame before pressing the shutter button. Autofocus Burst has also been thrown in to allow the XZ Premium to recognize, track, and capture sequences of moving objects to ensure sharp action shots.
Other smartphones in the Xperia range such as the Xperia X, XZ, XZs, XA1, XA1 Ultra, XA1 Plus, and Xperia Touch will get an Android 8.0 update. The mentioned features, however, are not available in some of these units. Users will get a message once the update is ready and it can be done via OTA.
