Star Trek is set to have a new TV series in early 2017. This brand-new Star Trek is said to introduce new characters, new worlds and new civilization. Alex Kurtzman, who co-wrote Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) will be sitting as executive producer for the TV series.
The new Star Trek TV series will not be related to the upcoming feature film Star Trek Beyond that is set to be released next year.
Star Trek original series ran 1966-69; an animated series ran from 73 – 74; The Next Generation ran from 1987 – 1994; Deep Space Nine from 1993 to 99; and the Enterprise from 2001 to 2005.
