The classic is back with a vengeance, albeit with updated modern graphics. Gone are the days wherein you’ll complain and cringe about the pixelated graphics of 1998, dreaming of the day the father of e-Sports will come back with more pleasing visuals. Blizzard has just announced the re-release of the first Starcraft, the much beloved game that spawned the e-Sports culture and rocketed it into the multi-million dollar business we know today. Anyhow, watch the trailer below:
Oh, and if you weren’t able to catch the print in the video, the game also supports wide 4K UHD and supports 13 languages. The video does’t mention it but Blizzard does mention it in their official Press Release that Brood War, the critically-acclaimed expansion, is included in the package.
Among other things, the remastered release will also feature new illustrations, advanced matchmaking, cloud saving, and replays.
The release date of Starcraft Remastered for the PC and Mac is this Summer, or roughly June to September in the Philippines.
It’s to no one’s doubt that StarCraft has managed to be a very influential game even when time passed by. New games came by but none managed to trump the sci-fi game that Blizzard has masterfully crafted and balanced. I remember playing the game when I was 10 years old. My mom took me to a computer rental shop to send an e-mail to my dad. Having no concept of renting, I just immediately sat on a “vacant” unit running the game. The original player at that time was an old man that took a toilet break. Enamored by the game, he allowed me to play it with a smile. Anyhow, do you have some weird or amazing StarCraft tales?
