Survey says AMD cards have more stable drivers

Independent software quality assurance experts, QA Consultants, have released a report that determines that AMD has the more stable drivers in their GPUs over NVIDIA.

The study made by QA Consultants was commissioned by AMD. The study, however, used 6 cards from each vendor for a total of 12 cards. These video cards ranges from gaming cards to more professional graphics cards:

  • AMD Cards
    • Radeon RX 560
    • Radeon RX 580
    • Radeon Vega RX 64
    • Radeon Pro WX 3100
    • Radeon Pro WX 7100
    • Radeon Pro WX 9100
  • NVIDIA Cards
    • GeForce GTX 1050 2GB
    • GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
    • GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
    • Quadro P600
    • Quadro P4000
    • Quadro P5000

The cards were running on 12 identical machines running on Windows 10 Redstone 4 (April 2018 update). All the machines were run for 12 days of 24-hour stress tests where AMD was able to pass at 93% while NVIDIA was only able to pass 82% of the scheduled tests.

There is an official press release as well as the details and conclusion of the studies made QA Consultants posted on their website. Head on over there if you want to peruse more about the testing they performed.
