The Flagship Killer: OnePlus 2 officially released – Hungry Geeks

After months of teasing through announcements and leaks, OnePlus has finally announced their second flagship phone – the OnePlus 2.

The upgrade of the popular OnePlus One offers a 5.5-inch 1080p HD display, dual-SIM support, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, wide-angle f/2.0 aperture 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and a 64-bit 1.8GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor. You will also have the option to upgrade the smartphone up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal memory.

It generally followed the trails of Apple and Samsung as the OnePlus 2 is packed with a fingerprint scanner which allows you  to quickly wake and unlock the handset. The company also boasts that their scanner is faster than the Touch ID of Apple.

The smartphone is also one of the first to have a USB Type-C charging port. The company promised to take the notch higher and made the same port Type-A reversible as well. This means it won’t matter which way you place your cable.

The high end specifications are housed in an aluminum-magnesium alloy frame with metal accents. You will also have a choice of rear covers too, like bamboo, black apricot, rosewood and kevlar.

In the US and Europe, sales will start (provided you have that invite) on August 11 with the 64GB priced at $389. The slightly lower specced model with 16GB of storage and 3GB of RAM will be available “later” priced at $329, OnePlus says.
