Introduction
I’ve been using the LG G2, I think for 2 years and I’ve never used a phone with such versatility. It was my second smart phone after using the Sony Xperia and it was a happy switch for me. The LG G2 survived a series of scary drops, a lot of emergency calls with the battery on the red, a lot of business calls, and a lot of love and romance. But I’ve finally had the courage to upgrade with the LG G4, while it brought me happiness, I still think of my LG G2 from time to time. FYI, stalls in Greenhills still buys the LG G2 at 6,000Php a piece depending on the condition of the phone. The G4 is selling for 26,500 at Widget City, while the official price based on the pre-ordering was around 31,995 to 32,995Php.
Screen
THE LG G2
LG G2 has a size of 5.2 inches with a body to screen ratio of 76.28%, while the G4 has a size of 5.5 inches with a body to screen ration of 72.46%. Resolution-wise, the G4 outplays the G2 with 1440×2560; while the G2 is equipped with 1080×1920 resolution. Both are equipped with Corning Gorilla 3 but Pixel Densitiy wise, the G4 has a 538 PPI; 423 PPI for the G2.
Hands down to LG G4 screen is the clear winner. Personally, the screen is fantastic, it is one of the best feature that I liked about the G4. Because of its large screen, I could compare it to an iPhone 6 Plus but not to the S6-es. If you are looking to upgrade to a Phablet, the G4 will most likely be a run of your money.
Battery
Both are equipped with a huge 3,000mAH battery. The difference is G4 has a replaceable battery while the G2 does not have this feature. But unlike the G2, the G4 holds more features that could drain the battery, ie. Quad HD screen.
The LG G2 gets this one just as it could live one whole day at one charge without the need of charging and undergoing a whole day of 20% brightness, 20% volume and always on data. The G4 is not that bad, once you turn on the battery saving feature that it has, but I found out that it only gave me 12 hours to 15 hours max on the same setting.
Form Factor and Design
Although, I really love what LG did with the G3 emphasizing more the curves and the addition of the leather back cover. G2 on the other hand was a light lovable plastic phone that had all the sides perfect for handling.
The LG G2 The 5.2 inch G2 looks more like a 5.5 inch phone and the 143 grams is evidently lighter and smoother to touch. The G4 is built within a 5.5 inch body which is also a bit wider and thicker than the G2. Although still slim and retains a more solid build than the S6-es and the Iphone 6-es; the G2 still has my vote because of its more solid build.
Camera
This is where the G4 shines. Dressed with a 16MP of pure camera goodness with an F1.8 apperture size, a 4K mode at 30FPS, an 8MP front face camera, you capture RAW images, it has a shutter speed control and basically an almost DSLR manual mode. The LG G4 shutsdown what the LG G2 could do with its camera, coming only with a 13MP rear cam and a 2.1 MP front facing camera.
The LG G4 is worth the upgrade, but if you still don’t need to upgrade, of if you are having a hard time securing a budget for one, stick to the LG G2. It is does not have all that problems that the G3 has, it has a great battery life, and great design and form factor. The G2 is one of the best phone created and would still commend LG in having created te LG G2. If you need more information about the LG G4, we will be posting our full review soon.
