The new 2025 journey in The Elder Scrolls Online features an ancient foe.

The Elder Scrolls Online staff unveiled an interesting time of experiences, stories, and improvements during the current 2025 ESO Direct livestream. The Seasons of the Worm Cult zone and story, a special kind of in-game event, and base-game additions were included in this. Do you want to hear more? Executive Producer Susan Kath and Game Director Rich Lambert of ESO are here to give a little more background on what was revealed during the great show.
We were anticipating a tale that celebrated the game’s tenth anniversary, says Lambert. We’ve always wanted to make a movie to the first game’s release, so we thought this was the perfect opportunity. One aspect of participant comments as we began the process kept coming up: Players wanted something different. But we took that into account this time.”
Due to this input, the Months of the Worm Cult brings the Purchase of the Black Worm back into the spotlight and continues ESO’s bottom game story.
Conditions of the Worm Cult introduces Solstice, a fresh area divided by an obscure challenge known as the Writhing Wall, in addition to the returning adversary and story. In Q3/4, a fresh in-game event will take place between Seasons 1 and 2 and will open the door to the next half of the area and the story’s finish.
The breaking of the Writhing Wall is a new server-wide event that will see people ‘ collective actions affect the outcome of the conflict, according to Kath. Solstice and the walls are all included in the 2025 Content Pass, but there are also special events that everyone can attend in from mainland Tamriel if they want to support the war effort.
The 2025 Content Pass and 2025 Premium Edition were likewise announced during the ESO Direct. You can get an entire season of adventures in one for the first time in the history of the game.
We’ve just spoken about our intentions to ditch the annual Chapter Release type, and Kath predicts that will change this year. It’s been challenging to dedicate time to exploratory changes in the past because we had to have every small detail planned far in advance due to the lead time and resources required to create Sections.
The team now has more room to add fresh content, such as the new Cyrodiil Champions test, where players helped the development team gather important PvP data and feedback on a distinctive Alliance War campaign.
The Writhing Wall event, two dungeon packs, and Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1 and Part 2 (zone and storyline ) are all included in the 2025 Content Pass ( and Premium Edition ), making it all worth your time to discover.
” Another advantage for people this year is that it means there’s always something interesting around the corner,” Kath explains.” Rather than a big release in June that you can play through and then find yourself waiting a year for the second major release,” Kath adds. With all of that in mind, we are transitioning this year and expect yet more changes in 2026.
The Update 46 base-game piece introduces a number of free updates for all ESO people, including the potent Subclassing structure, in addition to all the new experiences.
” Subclassing is something I’m really excited about,” Lambert says. Without having to reroll a new personality and losing all the effort you have put in over the years, it gives you yet more freedom and flexibility in how you play them.
Subclassing, a significant alteration to the way you control your personality builds, allows you to switch between two entirely different class skill combinations to create your ideal composite playstyle.
The fresh Hero’s Profit system, which aids in recovering from a long absence, is available alongside Subclassing.
With all of these modifications, we want to make it as simple as possible for former players to return and check it out, which is at the heart of Hero’s Returning, including updating tutorials and refreshing the first game zones, Kath says. We’re even asking the ESO area for comments on what they really want us to work on next.
The Elder Scrolls Online is in for significant shifts, and the outlined events are just a few of the new experiences and changes that will be introduced in 2025.
We’ll see you in Tamriel on June 18th when you purchase the Times of the Worm Cult Part 1 on PS5 and PS4 best away. You can also buy the 2025 Content Pass or Premium Edition right away from the PlayStation Store.
