The right bag for the gadget junkie – STM Trestle Backpack – Hungry Geeks

Yup, even bags today needs to have more attention to detail. It’s hard to find a bag that is durable, has good pocket storage and even decent / stylish on the side. Fortunately, our friends from Urbanize PH sent us over this STM Trestle Backpack to try out.

For our lifestyle of carring a laptop, camera, powerbanks, extra lens, gorilla pod, cables and other stuff is a blessing to have such a functional bag. But how is it really important? Check out our walkthrough with this wonder bag.

Coming in a striking Navy Blue color, the STM backpack fits laptops up to 13.3 inches easily. It comes with two main compartments, two side pockets and one easy access pouch on the top.

Exterior of the bag comes in a polyester wax canvas lining that is water resistant, accent colors of red zipper tags and red nylon front strap gives the bag it’s everyday utilitarian look. It could come as a college student bag or simply a working professional bag.

Opening the main compartment reveals the laptop padded cell that holds up to 14″ laptops, but 13.3″ laptops are more suggested. It also comes with a dedicated tablet / papwerwork sleeve that is segregated in a highly recognizable yellow color. The padding is soft to avoid other items in the bag puncturing your precious gadgets and comes in a friendly texture that cleans up the smudges at the same time.

Compartment from the open end is right for gadgets such as cameras, lenses and even cables. At the middle we have two fleece line pockets for smartphones, sunglasses, small cameras or chargers.

Overall the pockets can be easily navigated even when not looking at them thanks to the simple layout.

Opening the front compartment leaves you storage for a zippered storage for important items such as passports, IDs and other valuables. Pen storage, key hook, another small gadget and possibly your chargers at the front main compartment.

As you can see, the zipper are also big. All of them are #10 self-repairing YKK zippers with brushed aluminum zipper pulls for ensured durability.

At the left of the bag (Right side if you wear it) is a zippered quick access pocket for spare change, small items or even dedicate it for your powerbank.

At the right of the bag (Left side of you wear it) is a gartered secured quick access bag perfect for small items such as umbrellas or water bottles.

Opening the bag reveals that our Acer Swift 7, Starbucks Planner, Cameras can fit in the main compartment. Not to mention that there is still space for inserts like a jacket or blazer if it’s cold.

When worn, the padded shoulder straps has a removable sternum strap to stabilize the load in your back, it can be even be leveled vertically to add more comfort.

The back have four major areas that are also 3D padded to add airflow and comfort. It’s really nice and sturdy, even with the bag full feels very supported and your back is utilized well to avoid shoulder pain.

In between the main and front compartment is a quick access zippered pocket, great for quick storage of items such as your keys, pocket change, phone, and wallet if you are traveling. If not, why not make it a quick access compartment to organize all of your cables and papers.

We’ve used the bag for more than a month now and we were really happy with its durable build and functionality. Our blogging battle every day of juggling through multiple items/gadgets has been a lot easier since our items were neatly organized and safely stored in a not-that-much conspicuous looking bag (Just to be safer against thieves).

Speaking of losing your bag, that the bag comes with a free rewards tag worth $10. An online reward tag that lets other people return your bag when lost, you set it up by offering a simple reward such as Php1,000 to anything or even the thought of rewarding them once they return your bag.

According to rewards tag, some even return the bag without the thought of the reward but more of the gratitude of helping and the good karma it comes with. Hopefully that mindset is still existent in the PH.  A nifty addition that could be helpful in the future, but hopefuly you don’t have to use it at all.

Lastly, the STM Trestle bag is priced at Php5,990, priced reasonably for its dudable build, functional design and can definitely last for years even if your gadgets update from time to time.

You can purchase the STM Trestle at Urbanize stores in the Philippines. Check out their facebook page for more details, the list of branches and the STM website for more info about the bag.
