This one’s interesting: Transcend’s TS-CM80 M.2 SSD enclosure, capable of taking in M.2 types 2242, 2260 and 2280. There’s also a smaller TS-CM42 that’s only compatible with type 2242.
The kit contains the enclosure itself, a USB-C to USB-A cable, some screws to keep the M.2 stick in place, and even includes it’s own screwdriver, so you don’t have to fumble around looking for a compatible one. Nice.
Here’s how each M.2 type should align inside the provided adapter.
Installing the M.2 stick inside the enclosure is easy enough. Simply slide out the included adapter and insert the SSD as you would in a regular PC or laptop, and make sure it’s tightly screwed in. The front metal plate is placed using adhesive; make sure you don’t obstruct the LED light in the process.
One thing you have to make sure before getting an enclosure like this is to make sure what your M.2 SSD stick’s device interface is. It is not compatible with PCI Express M.2s, only SATA ones.
