MSI has tons of brand new stuff on display in Computex 2019. Long-running series such as gaming motherboards, graphics cards, displays, and cases are present in their booth. This year, however, MSI has shifted their focus on their new Prestige series of All-in-One desktops and displays as well as business-to-business rugged tablets.
The new gaming stuff that MSI will soon offer
Let’s start off with MSI’s bread and butter: their gaming series. With the announcement AMD’s 3rd generation Ryzen processors and the X570 platform, it’s inevitable that we’re going to see new motherboards from the manufacturer.
The latest X570 motherboards from MSI
Taking center stage in MSI’s X570 motherboard series are the MEG X570 ACE and PRESTIGE X570 CREATION. Both motherboards are compatible with AMD’s 3rd generation Ryzen processors while having two different design philosophies.
MSI MEG X570 ACE
Let’s start with the MSI MEG X570 ACE. The MEG X570 ACE sacks the traditional red design from previous MSI motherboards in lieu of a black and gold color scheme. Aside from the fresh coat of paint, the motherboard comes with the latest innovations from the brand such as its Frozr Heatsink and an extended heatpipe that runs through the MOSFETs, capacitors, to the PCH.
The boards sports three PCIe Gen4 x4 M.2 slots thanks to the X570 platform and its compliance to the PCIe 4.0 standards. These M.2 slots also comes with their own individual M.2 Shield Frozr to prevent any thermal throttling on the drives.
The MEG X570 ACE has the latest industry standards in its I/O. It now comes with a pre-installed I/O shield together with USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, an on-board 2.5G and Gigabit LAN connections as well as WiFi 6 (802.11ax) capabilities.
We can’t say for sure how the board will overclock but MSI says that it will come with 14+4+1 digital power phases to deliver clean and consistent power to the processor.
MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION
Designed for content creators who like heavy multitasking, the MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION comes with Dual LAN with support for 10G Super LAN. For those who prefer a wireless connection, the board also comes with WiFi 6 (802.11ax) capabilities.
Like the MEG X570 ACE, the MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION comes with the brand’s extended heatpipe and Frozr Heatsink, M.2 Shield Frozr, and pre-installed I/O shield.
The board will come with an M.2 XPANDER GEN4 add-on card that offers two extra PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots with Frozr Heatsinks for those who like additiona lightning-fast storage.
To separate itself from the brand’s gaming motherboards, the motherboard is compatible with MSI’s Creator Center. This new software allows its user to dedicate resources to creative programs depending on their preference.
More RGB compatibility
Aside from having complete RGB control to their own RGB devices and partner brands, MSI has partnered with NanoLeaf to integrate their RGB panels to MSI’s range of devices.
So long as the rig and NanoLeaf are connected to the same network, MSI’s Dragon Center can now control the behavior of NanoLeaf RGB panels. They can even be integrated into games to show health, damage taken, and other relevant information.
Expanding the Optix range
MSI is expanding their monitor range starting with the MSI Optix MPG341CQR. Packing an ultrawide 21:9 format, its panel comes with a UWQHD 3440 x 1440 resolution with an 1800R curvature.
The display is rated with a 3000:1 contrast ratio and is compatible with HDR 400. In addition, the panel can deliver refresh rates of up to 144Hz with a 1ms response time.
To prevent any cables snagging, the monitor comes with a mouse bungee at the front. Just beside the mouse bungee is an array of RGB lights that can display game data such as health and remaining mana.
The MSI Optix MPG341QCR has a built-in camera at the bottom bezel. Although it’s not a traditional webcam, the camera allows the monitor to automatically adjust brightness depending on the lighting condition.
Celebrating the Lightning’s 10th anniversary
The MSI Lightning range of GPUs are the cream of the crop when it comes to performance. Although now new GPUs are being released at this time, the brand is giving some needed love to their Lightning series by showing an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Lightning Z 10th anniversary edition.
Instead of having a Gold shroud surrounding the fans, the Lightning Z 10th anniversary edition comes with a muted silver design with a carbon-inspired finish at the middle.
Larger and quieter cases
MSI MEG Alchemy 700X
The MSI MEG Alchemy 700X is the largest case from MSI yet. The brand also says that it is the world’s first curved gaming case. Designed to showcase every aspect of your rig, the case is a massive centerpiece in a gaming area.
Despite having a larger footprint than your average case, the MEG Alchemy 700X can carry pretty much everything you throw at it. At the display floor, the chassis came equipped with an MSI X570 Godlike board, a full-sized MSI Radeon RX Vega 56 GPU, four sticks of Corsair Dominator RAM, two Corsair Force SSDs, a 2TB 3.5-inch WD Black , and full-sized Corsair RM1000x PSU, and a Bitspower custom-cooling system.
Since there’s no traditional I/O ports, MSI has placed the USB ports and 3.5mm jacks at the feet of the case. Not only does this save space but it also gives the feet other uses than holding the case up.
MSI MPG Harpe 300X
While most cases translucent cases in the market are made of acrylic or tempered glass, MSI is upping the ante with the MPG Harpe 300X. Touted as the world’s first laminated glass design case, the Harpe 300X is able to reduce noise coming from the components for a quieter computing experience.
The MPG Harpe 300X has a rather angular design as is expected for a gaming case. I/O ports of the case include two USB 3.2 Gen1 ports, USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port, two USB 2.0 ports, and 3.5mm audio jack.
The case supports form factors ranging from E-ATX, ATX, Micro-ATX, a Mini-ITX motherboards. It can also carry four 3.5-inch drives and two 2.5-inch drives. As for cooling it can support 120/140/240/280/360mm radiators.
