ZenFone 3 Deluxe Unboxing : The most premium from ASUS – Hungry Geeks

Finally, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe the current flagship of ASUS. We have been fan of the ASUS smartphone lineup since their legacy phones, Windows mobile smartphones, Padfone series, 1st ZenFone series and now the ZenFone 3 Series. We’ve witnessed more than a decade of cellular phone technology from ASUS and let’s see their most premium offering yet.

No traces of any smartphone photos on the outside, the box is similar to a presentation of a premium perfume where the box is covered by a premium matte blue finish with a gold printed ZenFone 3 Deluxe.

Opening the box is from the side like a book, magnets secures the box and lets you enjoy that “Snap” when you click the magnets. This method is rarely used on a smartphone package, so thumbs up to ASUS for leveling up the unboxing experience.

Opening the lid welcomes you the ZenFone 3 Deluxe wrapped in plastic glory along with a flat plastic tray of their iconic Zen Circle design. Accessories can be slid out below through a special tray like in jewelries.

Sliding out the tray will show you the standard ZenEar earphones, Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 adapter, USB Type-C Cable, Instructions manual and ejector pin for the sim tray.

Despite wrapped in plastic, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe can easily be accessed through the slide out feature of the plastic wrap. Don’t peel off the plastic wrap anymore as you might have a chance to drop it, trust us…the adhesive is strong.

The ZenFone 3 Deluxe is 5.7″ Full HD Super AMOLED display smartphone, no special curved edges this time but the back is rounded with tapered sides to give a much-assuring grip. Corning Gorilla Glass 4 is the glass used in this smartphone as compared to the CGG 3 on the previous versions.

The iconic Zen spun finish can be found both on the top, bottom plates on the front and at the camera lens on the back. Powering this device is a Snapdragon 820 processor with 6GB RAM and 64GB of storage, a combination has rarely seen even now in smartphones and we will be more than glad to share our full experience soon.

The camera of the ZenFone 3 Deluxe uses the latest Sony IMX318 23MP sensor with Tri-Tech Auto-Focus (laser-auto focus, phase detection auto-focus and continuous auto-focus), Color correction sensor and dual-LED flash.

The camera also has OIS (optical image stabilization) and EIS (Electronic image stabilization) to avoid shaky videos. We’ll let you see more of its glory in our full review soon.

Also at the back is the fingerprint sensor that can unlock as fast at 0.2 seconds. The back is very clean with its one piece build assemble and coated with a matte-finish that feels smooth. This is thanks to the company’s efforts to clean the back with their invisible antenna design, making it a uni-body plate to appreciate.

At the bottom is a USB-Type C connection with USB 2.0 transfer speeds, 5 magnet speakers (They are loud in our initial experience) and a microphone. The bottom and sides are tapered to give a seamless build from the front and back.

A very subtle ASUS logo can be found at the back as well, a much-appreciated move as in previous versions it was too obvious in location.

That’s it for now, hope you liked our premium photos of the new ZenFone 3 Deluxe. It’s now available in the market for Php34,995 but of course we will have to review this unit out to see if its worth the long wait.

Seeing ASUS’ packaging from their Padfone series to now, I’m glad to see that the company is learning the art of premium. Let’s see if this goes through into the internals. If you have any special request for the review, please do drop us a message / comment and we will be more than glad to try and accommodate them.
