Before Tokyo Game Show opened its curtains last Thursday, we were given a chance to look into the development of some of Bandai Namco’s upcoming games. One of which, a personal favorite of mine, is Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet.
Even after their traumatic adventure in a virtual online world, Kirito and his cohorts are then sucked into the world of Gun Gale Online (GGO) a world where-in guns and lightsabers are the thing. SAO: Fatal Bullet is set in that timeline. However, there’s a major change in the makeup and design of the game: the protagonist is a custom character. So instead of blasting your way through the world as Kirito together with his harem, you can now blast through the game together with Kirito’s harem (and Kirito)! Hell, yeah!
As this game is set in a world filled with guns, the skill sets and theme has also changed. In a post-apocalyptic world where robots and tech rule the land, the player must build the best character in this digital world to counter the yet unknown threat.
The developers also told us that the game will still include romance options and the occasional dating reminiscent of the older games. As such, new characters and NPCs are expected to appear.
One thing noticeable is the migration to a new gaming engine. SAO: Fatal Bullet is developed and will run under Unreal Engine 4. This means that the game has the ability toshow more whilst retaining its “anime” style.
As of yet, Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet has no set release date. We were just told that it will arrive come the first quarter of 2018. The game will be available in the PS4, PC (via Steam), and for the first time, Xbox One.
I wanted to show you some of the game in action, but do know that I’m Hungrygeeks’ shittiest photographer, so here’s a picture of Sinon.
Personally, I’m waiting for this one to come out as it’s always proven and tested that Bandai Namco’s Sword Art Games are good action-RPGs. Other than that, they all contain a lot of playtime in them, making them worth every cent. Why is 2018 so darn far?!
