Top 5 open world games of today – Hungry Geeks
Open world games are one of the most popular game categories nowadays and big studios are investing large amount of cash to create this fun and massive playgrounds. Here are our list of the top open world games of today.
Grand Theft Auto 5
Developer: Rockstar North
Publisher: Rockstar
Release date: TBA (Delayed, read this for more information)
After oh-so-many delays, the game is still not released on PC. Grand Theft Auto 5 first came out late-2013. Last year, they made it into the PS4 and Xbox One, and now, finally, PC is getting its turn. It’s still worth the wait. Not only does the PC version get all new features and enhanced graphics (expanded soundtrack and first-person view) – it will also boast a native 4K support.
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain
Developer: Kojima Productions
Publisher: Konami
Release date: 2015
Big Boss returns for the sequel to Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, and this is a prequel to Metal Gear 1. Even though you played all of the MGS games, this kind of timeline is really confusing. All you need to know here is that The Phantom Pain brings back the stealth adventure set across a series of wide open world environment. In addition, you are playing to actually build up Big Boss’s mercenary group. You can capture enemy guards, upgrade your base and even befriend a wolf cub to accompany you on your adventures.
Batman: Arkham Knight
Developer: Rocksteady
Publisher: Warner Brothers Interactive
Release date: June 2
The Arkham game series is still one of the best interactive superhero fantasy up to date, and we are hoping that this continues all the way. The developers gave us what we want when it comes to games with stealth and open world capabilities. The city is huge, incredibly detailed, and full of criminals to beat up until we get the next sequel of the game.
Batman: Arkham Knight is also included on our list of top in-game piracy punishments.
Assassin’s Creed Rogue
Developer: Ubisoft
Publisher: Ubisoft
Release date: Early 2015
To be honest Rogue, is very much similar to the Black Flag. You got your boat sailing, boat figths and a structure of Pirate storyline. The only difference here is that you play as Shay Patrick Cormac, a templar with a big musket and trench coat. Here you will explore the North Atlantic, see the old New York city, enjoy the sights while skinning a whale. It came out on consoles last year, but it’s due to be released on PC this “early 2015″.
Just Cause 3
Developer: Avalanche Studios
Publisher: Square Enix
Release date: TBA 2015
Our favorite guy Rick returns in another chaos-filled open world adventure. With the leaking images and videos around the internet, expect another chaotic rampage with your upgraded grappling hook and infinite supply of parachutes. This time, the game takes place in the Mediterranean, as players are tasked with taking down the country’s dictator General Di Ravello.
